Comments from our users
We are proud of the
services we offer the children and families in Kent. Here are some
of the comments we have received from users of our scheme. If you'd

Attitudes
Children have changed their attitude to learning and school.
These courses give some children their first positive experience
towards the school environment. Confidence levels can be raised in
other children who may be overshadowed in the classroom by the more
exuberant child.
National comment
The government have backed the idea of Out of School hours
Learning. The provision of Study Support or Out of Hours Learning is
covered in the Ofsted Inspectors Handbook (pg. 84, table 13).In the
handbook it states that:"Provision may include clubs and activities
organised during lunchtimes, after school, before school (and
during holidays and weekends)" and it goes on to say that "It is
important to consider how pupils' personal as well as educational
development is enhanced through these activities...The effective
school will make arrangements to help all pupils take advantage of
opportunities to learn, for example, by running after-school
homework clubs and extra-curricular activities at different times
of the day so all pupils who wish to can attend."
Jane Davidson, the Welsh Education Minister, is quoted as
saying, when she visited the first Children's University to be set
up in Wales: "There are many ways of learning including being
involved with a football team, drama group or any other after
school activity."
John Prescott commented, after visiting Hull's Children's
University:
"Children's University is allowing children to develop to their
full potential as soon as possible. It was right for Ofsted to
recognise the importance of Children's University and the
contribution it makes to the learning potential of the individual
and the raising of standards in education. The key is partnership
to give the best to our children."
