Attending school while employed
Children may not work during school hours. A child’s education
must also not be allowed to suffer because of any part time
employment. For example if a child has a job before the start of
the school day, they must be able to get to school on time.
Children may take part in a licensed performance during the
school day. However the head of the child’s school must confirm in
writing that the child can be absent. A performance licence will
not be issued if the school does not agree.
A child may also require tutoring while they are taking part in
a performance. The Local Authority can insist that the performance
licence applicant provides a tutor and makes suitable arrangements
for the child’s education. The licensing authority will decide
whether the tutoring arrangements are satisfactory.
