Child employment

Children often want to have jobs so that they can earn extra pocket money. Here at Kent County Council we have to know about all children who are of compulsory school age who are employed so that we can make sure that the work is suitable and that it does not affect the child's health or education. There are laws about the rights of children to work which both parents and employers need to know about.

If a child is involved in theatrical, television or modelling performances, the rules are slightly different.
