New secondary school to replace Ellington School for Girls and
Hereson School
Following the end of the Public Notice period and after full
considerations of any representations received, Kent County
Council's Cabinet Member for Operations, Resources and Skills
(CFE), Mr Mark Dance, has taken his decision under procedures laid
down in Kent County Council's constitution. He has decided to
implement the proposal to discontinue The Hereson School and
Ellington School for Girls on 31 August 2009 and has approved the
proposal submitted by the Local Learning Trust to establish a new
maintained secondary school from 1 September 2009 to replace both
schools. This decision is conditional upon the Local Learning Trust
being formally established as a legal entity.
Proposal received
Kent County Council published a Notice on 2 May 2008 inviting

Ellington School for Girls and The Hereson School. The Notice
expired on 2 September 2008. Kent County Council received one

invitation Notice and a copy of their complete proposal can be
