The future of high school provision in Deal

Castle Community College elected to apply for Academy status which was approved on 1 October 2010.  In light of this decision, the Local Authority is not pursuing the proposal to amalgamate Castle Community College and Walmer Science College.

Kent County Council undertook a consultation on a proposal to amalgamate Walmer Science College and Castle Community College and establish a new successor school on the Castle Community site. The public consultation period for this proposal ended on 14 December 2009. Details about the proposal are contained in the public consultation document.

Following the end of the public consultation period, a second report was sent to the School Organisation Advisory Board on 7 January 2010.
