Higher Education Compact
The Kent Higher Education Compact is a programme of study and
activities for students taking A level or other equivalent level 3
courses. The purpose of the programme is to prepare students for
undergraduate life. It focuses on students who are the first in
their families to go to university.
The Kent Higher Education Compact is a partnership between:
- Canterbury Christ Church University
- The Open University in the South East
- The University for the Creative Arts
- The University of Greenwich
- The University of Kent
- KCC/Aimhigher secondary schools
- Kent County Council
- Aimhigher Kent and Medway
- South East England Development Agency (SEEDA)
- The Creative Foundation
- Swale Forward (Swale Borough Council)
- The Open College Network South East Region
- Kent and Medway Lifelong Learning Network
The Higher Education Compact Programme is made up
of three strands. On completion, students will gain a
total of up to 40 H.E. Compact points which are recognised by
Kent-based universities as equivalent to up to 40
UCAS
points.
Although universities outside Kent may not accept the H.E.
Compact points as equivalent to UCAS points, completion of the H.E.
Compact Programme will strongly support a UCAS
application.
As well as the opportunity to gain extra UCAS points, students
will have the chance to take part in additional activities at
the Kent-based universities such as experiencing a lecture,
seminar, library/campus tour and the chance to meet current
undergraduate students.
The aim of the H.E. Compact programme is to encourage and
support students - especially those who are the first in their
families to go to university.
