Helping your son or daughter choose a better future

How Connexions Kent can help you

Group of young people in a park

This year your son or daughter will be making some important decisions about their future. Connexions offer a range of advice and support.

Connexions Kent is a service for all 13-19 year olds in Kent and for those up to the age of 25 who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

Support for young people

Connexions Personal Advisers are based in schools, colleges and in our town centre Access Points. They offer confidential information, advice and guidance to young people about:

  • career options
  • further education and sixth form courses#
  • preparing for work
  • job searching
  • training/apprenticeships
  • benefits
  • money
  • health and relationships.

Your son or daughter is welcome to book a one to one guidance interview with the Personal Adviser at your local Connexions Access Point to talk about their career plans. Advice will include:

  • The qualifications they need for different career options
  • further education courses
  • up to date information about the current job market and trends.

If your son or daughter is struggling with a personal issue that is affecting their learning and general wellbeing, our Intensive Support Personal Advisers are available to offer advice and support to help them get their life back on track.

Support for parents

Connexions Personal Advisers are here to support parents too. Advice includes:

  • the resources available to you as a parent/carer
  • the local employment or training opportunities for your son or daughter.
  • if your son or daughter has a learning difficulty and/or disability, then we can help you get the support you need. We can also put you in contact with other agencies that can support your teenager.

You can find your local Access Point on the Connexions website or telephone: 01622 683155.
