What happens during a statutory assessment?
|
If we decide to carry out a statutory assessment, your
named officer will ask advice about your child's needs
from:
- your child's school or early-years setting
- an educational psychologist
- a medical officer (this may also include advice from a speech
therapist or physiotherapist)
- social services (who will only give advice if they know your
child)
- anyone else whose advice we think could help us to identify
your child's needs
- you and your child (whose views will be contained in the above
reports but who may also complete a separate report).
We will ask all of the people listed above to write about your
child's needs as they see them. They will explain how these needs
affect your child's ability to learn. This will help us make the
right arrangements for your child even if we do not decide to issue
a statement.
You will be told about any examinations and assessments your
child needs to have. You will be able to be there, although in some
circumstances the professionals may find it helpful to see your
child alone. |
