If I think my child has learning difficulties, what should I
do?
|
First of all you need to speak to the school or early
years setting where you child attends to discuss your concerns with
them. If your child has a learning difficulty they will probably be
getting some extra help so the school or in their early years
setting will be able to tell you how your child is progressing and
what support is in place to help. If after talking to the school or
setting you still feel your child has difficulties that have not
been identified, you can ask the LA to consider carrying out a
statutory assessment of their special educational needs. A
statutory assessment is done where a child has severe, complex and
long-term needs. |
