Types of support
Our help extends to supporting parents/carers, teachers and all
those that are responsible for a child's welfare with advice and
information on all areas of Special and Additional Educational
Needs.
We are committed to giving children of all ages with Additional
Education Needs (including Special Educational Needs) the
opportunity to reach their full potential. All schools have
responsibilities for helping children, regardless of the nature or
severity of their needs.
Support services
- we assess pupils with Special or Additional Educational Needs -
we carry out Statutory Assessment as described in the SEN Code of
Practice
- we provide confidential advice and support for children and
young people with (or presumed to have) learning difficulties
- we provide practical information including the ability for
parents to locate schools and support services appropriate to the
child/young person's needs
How to access our service
Our Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Additional Educational
Needs (AEN) workers operate throughout the borough. Because Kent is
such a large county, the Local Authority is divided into three
areas - Mid Kent, East Kent and West Kent with local offices in
each of these areas. If you would like some impartial and
professional advice, please contact the relevant area office.
Tell us your views
It is important that we monitor and evaluate our work so that we
can provide the best service possible. In order to do this we need
feedback from parents who have recently been in contact with our
service. Fill in our
online Statutory Assessment Survey.
