Special and additional education

A child may have a Special Educational Need (SEN) if he or she is having a learning difficulty and this may arise for all sorts of reasons. If a SEN is identified, it can result in extra help and support being given to your child.

We are committed to giving children of all ages with Additional Education Needs (including Special Educational Needs) the opportunity to reach their full potential. All schools have responsibilities for helping children, regardless of the nature or severity of their needs.

With a focus on young people with additional educational needs, children in public care and the early years, educational psychologists seek to raise achievements of all young people provide support in dealing with crisis as well as providing support for schools.

The Minority Communities Achievement Service works in partnership with schools, communities, clusters of schools, parents, carers, other agencies, children and young people to improve access to education and raise achievement of Minority Ethnic and bilingual children and young people.

Partnership with Parents (PwP) is funded by Kent County Council for parents, carers and schools. Our role is to inform and empower parents/carers on all aspects of educational needs to help make decisions that are right for the child.
