If you want a school place for your child in September
2008 or January 2009, you should start finding out about schools at
the start of November 2007.
You can obtain more information about schools in your area by
telephoning the schools you are interested in; many have
brochures/prospectus' or websites. It may also be possible to
arrange an appointment to look around the school.
More information is available from the following links:
A good place to start finding out about getting your child into
primary education is to download and read the Admission
to primary school 2008 booklet.
Alternatively a print copy can be obtained by contacting the
Primary Admissions Team.
The Admission to Primary School booklet contains:
- advice to parents about deciding which school they feel is most
suitable for their child
- specific information about each school and admissions criteria
for schools that are their own admissions authorities (i.e., those
schools which are Voluntary Aided or Foundation)
- information about the admissions process and the admissions
criteria for all Kent's Community schools
Read the admissions criteria and process very carefully to help
you predict your best chance of achieving your first preference
school.
Answers to common questions asked by parents are provided in the
Frequently Asked Questions section. If you have a question that
is not covered either here or in the Admission to Primary School
booklet we recommend you consult the the Primary Admissions
team.
Applying online
This year you can also apply for your child's primary/junior
school place online. Use the following link to find out more:
General Primary Admissions
If you have recently moved to the area or are planning to do so
and are looking for a new school, you can telephone your local
schools to establish if they have a vacancy in your child's year
group. If the school is unable to offer you a place, you should
contact the Admissions Team who will be happy to help you.
For Future Admissions
If you will be looking for a primary or infant school place for
the future, you may 'register' an interest at any school you wish
by contacting the schools directly. What this means is that when
your child becomes of age to apply for a place at a primary or
infant school, the school will contact you to collect the
application form and admissions booklet appropriate for that year.
Registering an interest at a school does not give your child
priority for a place because their name has been down longer than
any other child. |
