Kent 4 star Council

Governor training and development

The Governor Training and Development Unit is part of the Advisory Service Kent and schools are able to purchase its services. Most do so by buying an annual package, using part of their Standards Fund.

We offer a comprehensive and flexible programme of support and training tailored to the needs of individual governors, governing bodies and clusters of schools.

Training programmes address both national priorities as well as locally identified needs within Kent's 23 regional clusters.

Our programme for 2007-08:

  • introduces topics designed to reflect the requirements of the 'Every Child Matters' agenda which is having a significant impact on how children and young people are supported to achieve their potential
  • provides professional development and training to support innovative links between your school and the local community it serves
  • ensures that, whether you are a new governor or a more experienced colleague, you have opportunities to clarify your role and to understand the role of governance.
