How will the Marsh Academy engage with the Romney Marsh community?

The Academy will become the heart of Romney Marsh, a hub for students, parents, business and community groups to share facilities and learning that will enhance the whole community. Stronger links with primary and secondary schools will be established in order to ensure a smoother transition for Year 6 students moving to the Academy. There will be more joint learning and resource sharing to benefit students across the local area. Facilities and opportunities will also be made available to lifelong learners from across the community.

The Academy will provide students with greater access to facilities outside standard school hours by introducing breakfast, homework and leisure clubs (e.g. sports / drama) during term time. The premises will also be made available over the weekend and during holiday periods for leisure and study activities that will provide students with a safe and productive place to spend their time.

The Academy will create links with local groups from whom students can learn through traditional classes, project based work and more in depth job and voluntary experiences. The current site will be extended to include more facilities which local businesses can operate from, so that students have the opportunity to gain first hand experience of working in different sectors, discover which they may be interested in, and find out about new ones.
