Exam & Term Dates

Term Dates

Please note that schools have to approve holidays during term time - these dates should not be taken for granted. The testing times for national curriculum assessments (Key Stage One, Two and Three) and GCSE / A Levels and mock examinations also need to be taken into account - pupils should not be absent during these tests.

Dates for these are not usually fixed more than one year ahead.

2007/08 academic year: 2007/08 Standard School Year Calendar (Agreed)

2008/09 academic year: 2008/09 Standard School Year Calendar (Agreed)

KCC has now determined the term dates for the school year 2008/09 following consultation with schools, education forums, trade unions, parents and governors' representatives.

Proposed dates for 2009/10 academic year: 2009/10 Standard School Year Calendar

Rather than wait to consult on dates for 2009/10 next Spring, KCC is consulting now on proposed dates for 2009/10. If you have any comments on the proposed dates, please e-mail them to Alex Duncan, Policy Officer.

Any comments should be sent before 28 September 2007.

Consultation on Term Dates The LEA sets the term dates for all community, community special and voluntary controlled schools. Governing bodies of foundation and voluntary aided schools are responsible for setting their own term dates. However, we hope all schools will continue to work within this common calendar.
