Lodging an appeal

The Independent Appeal Panel will hear parental appeals. The members will have no connection with the school. They will meet within 15 school days of an appeal being lodged. You, the school and the LA will be invited to the meeting. The procedures at the meeting will be similar to those at the Discipline Committee. All parties will have the opportunity to restate their views. The panel will either uphold the appeal, in which case the child will return to school, or they will reject the appeal, in which case the exclusion will be confirmed.

If you choose to appeal, you must appeal in writing within 15 school days. The address for appeals is as follows:
