Exclusion

An exclusion is when a headteacher has decided to send a pupil home from school as a disciplinary measure. There are two types of exclusion: fixed period and permanent.

Exclusion is a very serious step for a school to take. When a child is excluded from school, you, the school and the Local Authority (LA) have certain rights and responsibilities. We hope these pages will help to explain what these are.
