FAQs

How does the H.E. Compact work?

If students complete the programme of extra study successfully, they will then be awarded up to 40 H.E. Compact points which will be recognised as 40 extra UCAS points by the Kent-based universities*. Once completed successfully, students would then recieve extra consideration from these universities.

Will it affect my other studies?

The programme should help with students other studies as it has been designed to fit in with the way schools/colleges organise their tutorial timetables. The skills gained from Strand One - Progression to Higher Education - should benefit students in their A Level/BTEC or equivalent studies as well as helping them to make a smoother transition to university life.

Does it involve a lot of extra work?

It does involve some extra work - a rough estimation would be around one and a half hours per week on average, over a two year period.

I'm planning to apply to universities outside Kent - is it worth undertaking the H.E. Compact Programme?

Although universities outside Kent may not accept the H.E. Compact points as equivalent to UCAS points, the H.E. Compact Programme will be seen as strongly supporting a UCAS application.

* Please Note: the Open University does not require UCAS points for admission.
