If you have children under 19 and in full-time education,
you may be able to get free school meals for them.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for free school meals the pupil must be attending
a state-maintained school or receiving alternative education
approved by the LA and the family must be in receipt of one of the
following benefits and provide the relevant proof of identity:
Income Support
- Benefit certificate attached to application form to be
completed by Job Centre Plus
- All pages of the letter from DWP/Job Centre Plus showing
breakdown of income support payment. (This must be a recent
letter)
Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
- Benefit certificate attached to application form to be
completed by Job Centre Plus
- All pages of the letter from DWP/Job Centre Plus showing
breakdown of income based jobseekers allowance. This must be a
recent letter
Child Tax Credit (Not including Working
Tax Credit)
- Full Inland Revenue tax credit award notice (TC602), for
current tax year (photocopy acceptable) with an annual income of
£16,040 as of 6th April 2009.
Note: From 1 May 2009 where a parent is entitled to Working Tax
Credit during the four-week period immediately after their
employment ceases, or after they start to work less than 16 hours
per week, their children are entitled to free school lunches.
Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit
- Pension Credit M1000 Award Notice
Asylum Seekers
- Proof of support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum
Act 1999.
An Income-related Employment and Support
Allowance
We do accept bank or building society statements as they show
which benefit is being received.

request a form from the School or from the appropriate
