Gypsy and Traveller accommodation provision
Shortly before the full draft South East Plan was submitted to
Government in March 2006, new regulations set out the need to
include information on the number of Gypsy and Traveller pitches
required in the region. As it was not possible to include this data
before the plan submission deadline, the South East Regional
Assembly (SEERA) is undertaking a partial review of the plan to
cover this issue.
In October 2007, at the request of the SEERA, all the local
authorities in Kent jointly provided advice to SEERA on Gypsy and
Traveller Accommodation Provision. To view this advice and the
revised advice submitted in April 2008, visit our
publications page.
SEERA has now published a public consultation document setting out
a number of options for how many new pitches should be provided for
Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople for each Local
Authority area in the South East Plan. This consultation and the
final guidance will not identify the location of sites. It will be
the responsibility of each local council to identify sites in its
Local Development Framework (LDF) applying the overall guidance on
scale of provision set out in the South East Plan.
The consultation period runs until 21 November 2008 and the
document can be viewed from the
SEERA website (link opens in a new

Apportionment of primary land-won aggregates
The South East Regional Assembly (SEERA) intends to undertake a
partial review of the primary land-won aggregates apportionment.
SEERA will review the apportionment that the region will plan to
provide over the next 20 years, making the appropriate changes to
policy in the adopted Regional Planning Guidance on Waste and
Minerals (RPG9, June 2006) and in the draft South East Plan. For
further information on this review see the
SEERA website (link opens in a new
window). |
