Making it Happen

Making it Happen plays a significant role in achieving the objectives and aims of Kent Design for creating places, streets and spaces that meet the needs of people.

It comprises:

  • technical appendices that bring together and replace previous advice about the design of housing and industrial estates, covering new initiatives such as Home Zones, Sustainable Urban Drainage systems, and expanding on the role of public transport and conservation in new development
  • customer service standards, which set out our objectives and commitments to our customers
  • checklists that we use in the submission and approval process
  • glossary and bibliography for further assistance.

Information provided in Making it Happen must be read in conjunction with the advice in the guide.

Reference documents

To support the information provided in Making it Happen we have produced a series of reference documents that provide greater detail on specialist subjects.

Updates and revisions

We regularly review our document in light of feedback and comments received from our customers and also in line with new policies and practices.

The updates and revisions we have made since the document was first published on our website can be seen in this table. All deleted documents are included in the superseded area of the website for reference purposes only.

If you have a paper version or have printed off any extracts from our website, you must ensure that it reflects the most current and up to date advise found on our website.

Superseded documents

From time to time we shall amend and update information contained in Making it Happen and/or replace reference documents as required in order that the latest advice is contained on the website.

All superseded documents, whether reference documents or part of Making it Happen, will be added on the superseded documents page. Documents will be superseded as and when legislation and information needs to be changed.

Feedback

We would like our customers to complete and return a customer feedback questionnaire (document L in Making it Happen). The information provided will help us improve the advice and guidance in the future.
