Private finance initiative
|
Private Finance Initiatives (PFIs) enable private sector
money to be used to fund public sector initiatives.
Private companies, usually involving large construction firms,
are employed to design, build, and in some cases, manage new
projects.
Six secondary schools in Kent have received funding under the
government's PFI scheme to rebuild/refurbish their school
buildings.
In total we have successfully received £82 million of PFI
funding for the project. More than 85% of buildings in the project
will be replaced with new purpose-built buildings to ensure that
students have access to modern teaching facilities fit for the 21st
century. |
