I was invited to a public meeting at Lydd airport at the
end of last week.
It brought home to me again the economic development potential
we have in the county.
It is enormously important that job opportunities are created
for local people and most of the audience there agreed.
Just a handful of flights a day out of Lydd airport will bring
jobs to an area where they are desperately needed.
And there are other advantages.....
Making better use of local airports like Manston and Lydd cuts
down on travelling time, removes the need for new airports to be
built and provides an uncrowded flightpath straight to mainland
Europe.
The next time you consider embarking on a trip that involves
leaving from Heathrow or Gatwick, paying a fortune for parking,
getting stuck in a traffic jam and spending two hours getting
through security, check out the local options.
