The Cabinet is our leadership team, responsible for the
strategic thinking and decisions that steer how the council is
run.
It consists of the
Leader of the council and nine Cabinet Members, who hold a
portfolio of services.
The cabinet meets monthly to take decisions collectively that
will have a very significant impact on KCC's budget or on its
services to the community - these are known as 'key decisions' and
are listed in the
Forward
Plan of Key Decisions.
Each Cabinet Member, however, will take decisions relating to
their own portfolios. Cabinet Members can appoint 'Lead Members' to
advise and assist them on their portfolio or a specific part of
it.
In addition, there are three cross-party advisory boards, one
for
Gypsy and traveller issues, one for
Highways and one for
School Organisation, which advise the relevant Cabinet Members
on issues coming forward for decision. |
