KCC grant schemes

Arts projects

Kent Arts Investment Programme

Aims to encourage diverse, high quality arts activity with average grants of £5,000. Events or project activity should be open to the general public and have a clear public benefit.

Local Board Grants

Member Community Grants

Each of our 84 county councillors can provide financial support of up to £10,000 each year for projects that benefit local communities. This funding has helped a wide range of projects including youth groups, environmental projects and facilities for older people.

Small Community Capital projects

Each Local Board can consider bids up to £20,000 for larger capital projects. These grants have helped voluntary organisations with equipment costs, funded after-school clubs and helped preserve Kent's landscape.

KCC Local Schemes Grant

Awards for revenue or minor capital projects meeting KCC strategic objectives. These are one-off grants for 2008/09, and there can be no reliance on funding for future years.

Rural towns

SEEDA/Kent Rural Towns

This is a partnership programme providing support and advice for small rural towns (including larger villages/parishes) plus help to carry out a HealthCheck. KRT/SEEDA funding from is only available for selected eligible towns for economic regeneration projects. The average grant awarded has been between £100,000 and £150,000 with 50 percent cash match required.

Sports projects

Kent Paralympian Fund

An initial amount of £25,000 is allocated to this fund which is supported by The Denne Group. It is open to applications from individuals (not clubs) to cover up to 50 percent of the cost of the necessary preparation and training required for the Paralympics Games in 2012 (although the trust will consider those wishing looking to qualify for the 2008 Beijing Games).

Small Capital Grant Scheme for Sport

This scheme aims to encourage the development of sports in the county by offering grants to sports organisations to improve facilities and widen participation.

Sportsaver (Kent Reliance Building Society) and Pfizer Sports Fund

Both give grants of between £50 and £500 to community sports projects in Kent. The Pfizer Fund focuses solely on east Kent.

Sports schemes on school sites

Grants for organisations to arrange sports schemes on school sites - available to schools, councils, companies and governing bodies in Kent for new and enhanced activities.

Village halls

Village and Community Hall Grants

This scheme supports capital projects to improve an existing facility or build a new one that meets an identified need in the community. The maximum available is £50,000 or 25 percent of project costs (whichever is the smaller amount).

Young People

Kent Young People's Fund

Grants of between £25 and £75 are available to young people (11 to 25 years) who have personal circumstances that require financial support to enable them to achieve a personal development goal. For example, towards the purchase of equipment, a course or trips. Priority is given to young people aged 13 to 19 years. Applications are accepted all year round.

The Hugh and Montegue Leney Trust

Awards for educational travel (this usually takes up some or all of a student's gap year) are available for pupils who are over the age of 16 and are attending schools in Kent, Medway, Bexley or Bromley, or have left such a school within the previous 12 months.

Youth and Community Partnership Award

Grants of between £1,000 and £6,000 are available for specified items of expenditure to voluntary youth organisations within Kent.

Youth Opportunities Fund and Youth Capital Fund

The fund's help young people and particularly hard to reach groups. The Opportunities Fund supports the development of positive activities and things to do and seeks to widen their role as decision makers, grant givers and project leaders. The Capital Fund compliments the Opportunities Fund with small capital grants.
