The main role of government departments and their agencies is to
implement government policy and to advise ministers.
UK Parliament is based on a two chamber system. The House of
Lords and the House of Commons sit separately, and are constituted
on different principles. However, the legislative process involves
both Houses.
Kent has 14 parliamentary constituencies plus three in Medway,
each represented by a Member of Parliament (MP).
MEPs (Member of the European Parliament) represent each of the
12 regions in the UK. Kent belongs to the South East Region and its
residents are represented by each of the 10 MEPs for the
region.
