Making decisions for Kent
We are responsible for providing a wide range of services that
affect the daily lives of people living, visiting or working in
Kent. These include roads, schools, social services, libraries,
adult education centres, trading standards and planning.
We set policies and make decisions about these services for the
people of Kent.
County
councillors are responsible for making these decisions. They
are elected by you every four years and meet regularly to approve
the budget (including Council Tax), the plans and strategies for
Kent (known as the policy framework) and
the
Constitution.
Proposals for the policy framework are put forward by the
Cabinet
following advice from
committees.
The day-to-day running of the service is the responsibility of
officers working in four directorates. See the
council structure for more information.

All Council and Cabinet meetings and almost all committee
meetings are held in public.

broadcast live on the web. |
