Managing Director, Environment and
Regeneration
Role and responsibilities
- To provide strategic leadership for the Environment and
Regeneration Directorate which manages a variety of work including
land use and transport strategy, regeneration and sustainable
communities, economic development, environment and waste and road
maintenance
- Responsible for an overall revenue budget of £135 million and
some £100 million capital investment in transport infrastructure,
improving country parks and regenerating coastal towns.
Biography
Adam is currently the Managing Director of Environment and
Regeneration with Kent County Council. He was previously Strategic
Director for Environment and Development Services at Rotherham
Metropolitan Borough Council and was responsible for regeneration,
transportation, planning, asset management, Streetpride services,
culture and leisure and environmental services. His directorate
employed 2,500 people and managed a budget of £150 million per
annum.
Adam started in local government in 1983 as a Trainee Building
Surveyor with Wycombe District Council. He progressed through the
ranks via the London boroughs of Redbridge, Barnet and Camden,
achieving a Chief Building Surveyor post in 1990 and Assistant
Director of Environmental Services in 1993 with South Bucks
District Council. Adam joined Torfaen County Borough Council in
1996 as Assistant Director of Development and Head of Property
Services and then became Director of Estates Property and Markets
with Kirklees MBC in 1998.
Adam was President of the Association of Building Engineers in
2002/2003 and is a Past Fellow of the Chartered Institute of
Building. He also has an MBA from the University of Wales
College.
Adam is married with four young daughters. In his spare time he
sings professionally, participates in amateur dramatics and plays
golf (badly). He is also a governor of the Oscars College of
Performance Arts and Holmfirth High
