Staying in education

Are you worried about the cost of carrying on your studies after school. Guidance on the cost of further education and the options that are available for you are offered by several organisations.

  • Find out if you can get £30 a week Education Maintenance Allowance to help you carry on in learning after you've left school.
  • Uniaid aims to help young people cope with the financial difficulties of going to university. It includes a 'student calculator' and information on accommodation bursaries for young people in hardship who otherwise would not be able to continue into higher education.
  • The National Union of Students  provides information on student finances including student loans and sources of financial support.
  • UCAS provides simple online budget advice and online calculator as well as information about the cost of studying, working and studying at the same time and information for care leavers.
  • The Student Loans Company  is responsible for providing financial services, in terms of loans and grants, to students across the UK. They also administer the collection of repayments.
