Proof of age

Proof of age

It is our job to make sure that age restricted items such as alcohol, cigarettes, fireworks and computer games are not sold to underage people. It is a criminal offence to sell any of these products to a young person under the specified age.

How can I prove my age?

Acceptable forms of ID include:

Challenge 25

Challenge 25 is a project which aims to reduce the sale of age restricted products to underage people.

Retailers are encouraged to refuse to sell age restricted products to anyone who appears to be under the age of 25 years old and does not have an acceptable form of photo identification.

We are working with retailers to help them to be more aware of their responsibilities and the consequences of selling to underage customers.

Fake ID

It is a criminal offence under the Identity Cards Act 2006 to use a fake ID of any kind.
