Support Wardens
Support Wardens
Following a successful bid for central government funding
we were able to offer 30 young people a 6 month job
opportunity as a Support Warden. This was available for people aged
18-25 who had been long term unemployed.
These Support Wardens worked along side our Kent Community
Wardens assisting in activities concerning young and
elderly people and completing community projects.
During the project we recruited 30 Support Wardens and
are hoping to be able to recuit more young people in the near
future.

EFA Award Best Public Sector Innovation
Kent Community Wardens' work with the young people has won
the Best Public Sector award for Innovation from the National Employers Forum for
Age.
The judges said that "KCC have shown a real proactive effort to
engage with young people and promote community cohesion in often
difficult circumstances."
