Non-conformist churches
The Kent Registration Service can help you with registering a
building for religious worship and solemnisation of marriages.
Buildings of worship
Under the provision of the Places of Worship Registration Act
1855, a congregation may apply to have
their building certified for worship by applying to
the Superintendent Registrar in the district where
the building is situated.
This excludes churches or chapels of the Church of England,
unless the Church of England congregation share
their building with another non-conformist religious
denomination.
If you would like more information on applying within Kent,
please contact the Superintendent Registrar on 0300 333
5430 or email Superintendent.Registrar@kent.gov.uk.
Places of marriage
If you want the place of worship to become a place where
marriages can take place, you need to apply for the building to be
registered for the solemnisation of marriages under section 41
of the Marriage Act 1949.
Again, if you would like to apply within Kent, please contact
