National Accountability
At Government level, responsibility for the youth justice system
is shared by the Ministry of
Justice and the Department for Schools,
Children and Families. The Youth Justice Board oversees the
whole youth justice system on their behalf. Its role includes
advising the government on youth justice matters, setting national
standards, monitoring the performance of the youth justice system
and placing young people remanded or sentenced to custody in
suitable secure accommodation.
