The adoption team
The Kent Adoption
Service will support and guide you through the adoption
process. We also have information and support for people
who have been adopted and fostered - and for their birth
families.
We are responsible for all children in Kent
awaiting adoption. We have a record of excellence and
the significant increase of successful adoptions arranged
by us is one of Kent's major success stories.
An outline of some of our
work:
- We involve experienced adopters in training and supporting new
adopters.
- We ensure children and adopters continue to receive support
after they have been matched.
- We are part of the South East Adoption Consortium
(SEAC).
If you are interested in adopting we will
support you and guide you through the whole process. We will
help you:
- adopt a child who is in foster care while awaiting
adoption
- adopt a child from your extended family
- adopt a child from abroad.
South East Adoption Consortium
This is a group of 6 adoption agencies that joined together
in 2000. Together they aim to increase the pool of approved
adopters for children in the South East who need families, and
to develop consistent practice across different agencies.
Our adoption team belongs to the partnership, together with
agencies from Medway, East Sussex, Bexley, Bromley and
Brighton and Hove. The consortium works to develop common
standards and share information so that we can achieve better
matching results and reduce delays. It has become successful and
has produced a rise in the number of successful child adoptions in
the south east.

Counselling
We also offer counselling to help you -
whether you are new to adopting a child or
if you are a birth parent who may be having your child
adopted. We aim to make the process of
adoption as smooth as possible - and we have gained a
reputation for finding innovative ways of assisting and supporting
all concerned.
We welcome hearing from you at any
stage.
