Post-adoption support
Support for adults who have been adopted
We also provide information and guidance to
adults who have been adopted and may need support, for instance, in
tracing birth parents. Our counselling services offer help to all
those involved personally and professionally in adoption, including
birth families.
Our partners Connecting Adoptive Families
Independent Services (CAFIS) work with our Adoption and
Special Guardianship Support (ASGS) team to provide
support.
(CAFIS) workers specialise in enquiries about
post-adoption support. They can help:
- adopted people wanting to find their adoption records
- adopted people trying to make contact with their birth
families
- provide intermediary support for family tracing and
reunions
- birth families coping with the effects of adoptions
- adopters, adoptees and birth families when writing letters to
each other via the letterbox service
- enable contact between adopted children and significant people
in their past.
(CAFIS) also provides an advice line where you
can talk to a post-adoption worker and receive help and
support. This is available from Monday to Friday between
10.00am - 1.00pm, they can be contacted on 01843 854661.
