Retailers of second hand goods
Kent County Council Act 2001
The Kent County Council Act 2001 regulates the trade in
second hand goods and makes it more difficult for criminals to
dispose of stolen property.
If you deal in second hand goods in Kent you
will need to register.
For a list of exemptions please see the guidance below.
An identical act is in force in Medway so the rules apply
throughout the county.
The act requires sellers of second hand goods to keep records for certain types of items.
The legislation also affects occasional
sales, including boot fairs, markets and one day
sales.
