Weights and measures

Trading Standards regularly monitor factories, shops and pubs, not only to check the products there but also the weighing and measuring equipment used in serving or packing the goods. Filling stations are also inspected to ensure that the fuel pumps are dispensing accurately.

In general, most types of weighing or measuring equipment must be tested and verified correct before they are used for trade purposes, either for the first time when new or after repair.
