Legal Services, our own firm of solicitors, provides high
quality legal advice and agency services to public bodies and other
local authorities as well as KCC.
Over recent years we have
established the unit as a leader in its field for quality and
cost-effectiveness. We now operate as an in-house private
practice, combining the efficiency and dynamism of the private
sector with the service ethos of the public sector, focusing
on outputs and outcomes that benefit the communities we
serve.
This is reflected in our
awards and achievements, which include
ISO9001, Lexcel, Charter Mark, Investors in People and, most
recently, The Lawyer Public Sector Legal Team of the Year Award
2005, finalist in 2006 and runners up in the Public Sector category
at the Financial Times' Innovative Lawyers Award 2007.
Increasingly, our role is not just to give advice but to help
shape and deliver some of the most radical and visionary projects
in the history of Kent County Council. A combination of innovation,
determination and a willingness to work in partnership has allowed
us to deliver real and lasting benefits to the communities we
serve.
What makes us different?
- We are changing the way public sector lawyers think and
work
- Technical expertise is given
- The way we deliver advice to our clients sets us apart
- Our business is client-driven and our success is measured by
their success
- It's by forging true partnerships with clients, keeping an open
mind and looking for creative solutions that we add value to our
relationships and build our success
- Our lawyers are business advisers, not just legal experts
- We have a reputation for being 'unstuffy', down-to-earth,
accessible people whose primary motivation is delivering great
advice to clients: not just answering or clarifying points of law,
but getting 'stuck in' and identifying with our clients'
business
Clients we have served
We provide high quality legal advice to a wide range of internal
and
external clients across the UK, including:
- police authorities
- fire and rescue services
- probation services
- numerous county, London borough, district and parish
councils
- schools and colleges of further and higher education
- housing associations
Need legal help?
Our in-house legal team has offices at both Maidstone and
Canterbury. Most work can be done 'at a distance', so geographical
location is no problem. With court and inquiry appearances we can
either agree local agency representation or arrange to cover these
appearances ourselves, depending on travelling time
involved. |
