Democratic Services supports and advises Kent's 84 county
councillors who make important decisions in
meetings of full
Council, Cabinet, committees and other groupings.
There are up to 500 meetings a year, in which a vast range of
issues are discussed, from major strategic policies to whether an
individual child should have their bus fare paid to school.
Democratic Services staff organise these meetings, advise
participants on law and procedure and help them achieve practical
results.
In addition,
Cabinet Members take individual decisions relating to their own
portfolios. Democratic Services staff organise the formal meeting
and decision-making processes; supply personal secretarial and
other support services to county councillors, while staff officers
support the political groups. |
