The Legal & Democratic Services Unit is responsible
for ensuring that the council correctly applies the law and
regulations governing its business. It also provides high quality
legal advice and services to public bodies and other local
authorities.
It operates within the Chief Executive's directorate. It is led
by Geoff Wild who is the Director of Law and Governance. Read

- Corporate Data Protection & Freedom of Information
Co-ordinator - who ensures that KCC complies with the three areas
of legislation that provide everyone with a right of access to
information. These are the Data Protection Act 1998, the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations
