European funding

EU funding in Kent

The EU offers a wealth of funding opportunities for projects that can contribute to delivering European economic, social or environmental goals. If you are a business or organisation looking for funding, the following gives an idea of what is available on Kent. If you have any questions please contact us for more information.

INTERREG

The European Union's Interreg co-operation objective aims to support cross-border, transnational and inter-regional co-operation between different European Member States. The Interreg programmes have been and will continue to be a key vehicle for local authorities and organisations to work with EU partners on projects of common interest.

Organisations in Kent have participated in various Interreg programmes since 1991 including the Franco-British Interreg IIIa Programme from 2000-2006. Kent is also part of the eligible area for several new Interreg IV programmes for the period 2007-2013.

Other EU funding

EU funds are available for policy priorities. A list of these is published once a year by the European Commission. These are generally for revenue projects promoting the exchange of good practice, or testing innovative services. In almost all cases they require international partnerships; three partners from different EU member states is usually the minimum. Most programmes require match-funding with the amount varying from programme to programme. For more details see our information page.
