Central and Eastern Europe

Kent has had an established link with Bács-Kiskun county in southern Hungary for more than 15 years. Areas of joint work have included tourism, small and medium sized enterprise (SME) development and environmental issues.

We are also strengthening the county's links with other Central and Eastern European countries following the enlargements of the EU in 2004 and 2007. Working in partnership with these new member states will also help attract EU funding into Kent.

One project already underway is establishing a network of small and medium sized businesses in the USA and Central and Eastern Europe, enabling SMEs to develop international business which they would otherwise not have been able to access.
