Your County - Putting Kent First

Kent 4 star Council

Kent's international profile

Kent's geographic position has enabled it to create special relationships with the European mainland.

Kent has, over the years, gained a wealth of experience in working with its International Partners, both on the other side of the Channel in Northern France and other European partners across Europe. More recently links have been strengthened with Virginia, USA.

Kent County Council has developed numerous partnerships, involving local authorities, businesses, universities, schools and voluntary groups.

The International Affairs Group (IAG) is located in County Hall, Maidstone, but also operates from a European office in Brussels. The Kent Brussels Office is strategically placed to represent Kent's interests to European institutions.

The creation of a single European market and the enlargement of the EU means there are more opportunities for Kent businesses to trade with Europe.

EU policy and legislation can be highly complex, so the IAG can provide advice to local businesses and organisations, as well as help them access EU funding.
