Landscape Services

Our local natural and built environment needs a lot of maintenance as well as new initiatives - and we have a dedicated department to handle this.

Landscape Services takes care of a range of tasks, not just for us but also for other local authorities and for schools, all under competitive tender.

Our role includes:

• street cleaning, specialist cleaning and beach management
• cutting and tending grass
• maintaining annual bedding schemes as well as shrubs, roses and herbaceous plants
• undertaking hedge and shrub pruning and tree surgery
• maintaining sports grounds, playgrounds and equipment and all weather areas
• looking after ponds and environmental areas
• grave digging and other cemetery work
• cleaning and snow clearing

We design new playgrounds for schools, constructs new ponds and special environmental areas, handles new turfing and tree and shrub planting, creates footpaths and fencing, and landscapes around new buildings.

We have a large modern fleet of vehicles and machinery for all these tasks, a permanent ground staff numbering more than 300, and a full-time health and safety officer. We have an accredited NVQ training centre with registered assessors and provides training to a number of other public bodies in Kent. Full details can be obtained by contacting Landscape Services.
