You can have a verbal agreement lease for up to 3 years, but we would recommend having it in writing.

Sell a lease
If you are the landlord and your tenant wishes to sell the lease, check the lease to see what it says and your obligations will also be set out in section 1 and section 2 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1988.
