Charlotte knew from an early age that she wanted to pursue a career in law, starting her undergraduate studies at the University of Derby aged 17 and pursuing her postgraduate studies at the University of Loughborough. Realising that she wanted to work within legal aid, the Legal Practice Course was completed at the College of Law whilst also working as pro bono adviser for the charity 'Women in Prison'. She completed her training contract at a well-established Kent firm before qualifying as a solicitor in 2001. Upon completing the Duty Solicitor qualification, she moved in 2003 to a specialist criminal defence practice. Charlotte frequently acted as an advocate in all stages of criminal proceedings including specialising in youth court work.

In 2014, seeking to diversify from criminal law, Charlotte worked for the General Medical Council as an Investigations Officer for the Fitness to Practice department, before accepting the position in June 2015 as a public law solicitor in child protection at KCC Legal Services. She is looking forward to developing her legal career in this exciting and challenging area of law and being part of a strong team working for a pioneering public sector legal practice.
