Biography

Amen was educated at the University of Kent at Canterbury and College of Law, London. She joined KCC Legal Services in 2012.

Prior to joining KCC Legal Services she was a successful private practitioner with a London firm. She worked on a range of family law matters including divorce, ancillary relief, injunctions, TLATA and both private and public law children. She took a keen interest in working upon parental child abduction cases with a foreign element which involved working closely together with PACT (Parents and Abducted Children Together).

Since Amen joined KCC she has worked on a number of complex child care cases, involving neglect and poor home conditions, sexual abuse, domestic violence, bestiality, non-accidental injuries and emotional abuse. She has also worked on cases that involve a foreign element. She has regularly advised clients about whether there are grounds to issue an application, requesting evidence, issuing proceedings, drafting papers for court, reading psychological or psychiatric reports, looking at medical records and reports, attending meetings with parents and/or their legal representatives and providing advice in relation to emergency situations.

Amen is a highly personable and efficient lawyer; she applies a considered and robust approach to her work. She regularly undertakes advocacy on a variety of matters in the Family Proceedings Court and County Court, including Initial Hearings, Case Management Hearings, Issues Resolutions Hearings and Final Hearings. She is also experienced in conducting contested matters including s.38(6) applications.

Amen is fluent in Punjabi and Hindi making her accessible to a wide range of clients. Her amenable demeanour in conjunction with her tenacity has won favour with the clients.
