Biography

Zena graduated from the University of Kent in 2006 with a First Class Honours Degree in Law and went on to BPP Law School, London to study for her Legal Practice Course which she passed with Commendation. Whilst at Law School, Zena worked as a paralegal for Parabis Law LLP, focusing on civil litigation and personal injury work.

Zena trained with a highly regarded regional firm and qualified into its employment department (recommended by the Legal 500) in March 2010. During her time in private practice Zena specialised in employment law and advised both employers and senior employees. Zena recently left private practice to join the legal team at Kent County Council in April 2014. She is now four years qualified and handles a broad range of contentious and non - contentious employment work. 

Zena has wide ranging expertise in all aspects of employment law including grievance and disciplinary issues; drafting and negotiating contracts of employment; drafting policies and handbooks; senior executive terminations; drafting and negotiating settlement agreements; redundancies; Tupe related disputes and drafting and enforcing restrictive covenants.

Zena is also an enthusiastic litigator and advocate and advises on all aspects of employment tribunal claims. She has represented employer clients in the employment tribunal in relation to claims for unfair dismissal, breach of the Working Time Regulations, employee status, unlawful deductions from wages and breach of contract claims in the civil courts.

Zena is a very approachable lawyer. She offers a high level of technical knowhow together with commercially focused and realistic advice.

Zena is a member of the Employment Lawyers' Association and is a nominated legal adviser for the award winning Kent Law Clinic providing employment law advice on a pro bono basis. Zena offers bespoke training to her clients and is a regular speaker at HR forums providing employment law updates to HR professionals.
