Michael was educated at London University and London Metropolitan University. He qualified as a solicitor in 2005 while working within the Legal Department at Medway Council.

During his ten years at Medway Council, Michael practised in education law, child protection, employment law and civil litigation.

Michael joined Kent County Council in 2008. He now specialises in employment and education, but also advises on a range of other areas including data protection and freedom of information. In addition to his work for KCC he works with a range of external clients including schools, district councils, probation and fire and rescue services.

Michael advises schools on the full range of employment matters including contractual issues, disciplinary and grievance issues, and allegations of sex, race and disability discrimination. He has conducted many Employment Tribunal cases on behalf of schools, and is an experienced advocate in the Employment Tribunal, with an excellent record of success. He has also appeared in the County Court and Magistrates Court.

He has acted as advisor to disciplinary appeal panels, exclusion appeal panels and school transport appeals.

He also advises schools on a wide range of issues including admissions and exclusions, school security, disputes with parents, data protection issues, and employment matters.
