Kate was educated at the University of Leeds, University of North London and the University of the West of England. Kate has extensive experience obtained both in private practice and latterly in local government. Kate was appointed as a Senior Solicitor at Kent County Council in January 2010.
Kate provides schools and organisations with advice on education, employment and data protection issues, regularly advising Kent Legal Services' external clients. Kate advises schools on education matters including staffing issues, equipment disputes, data protection issues, admissions, exclusions and has had conduct of SENDIST appeals and Judicial Reviews on education law issues. Kate has considerable experience in managing complex allegations against leadership teams and supporting Head Teachers and Governing Bodies in resisting and responding to vexatious allegations.
Her employment experience includes conduct of Employment Tribunal litigation on all aspects of employment law, including unfair dismissal, sex, race and disability discrimination, a multi party TUPE claim, equal pay claims, PIDA and redundancy cases, including complex multi party litigation, appeals to the Employment Appeal Tribunal and appeals to the Court of Appeal. She regularly advises management on employment policies and contracts, equal pay issues, disciplinary appeal panels, and on compromise/settlement agreements.
She regularly writes legal updates for clients and has organised and presented seminars for clients, including a Headteacher's conference. Her clients have praised her professionalism, helpful advice and speedy delivery.
